FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SPOKANE VALLEY—Senator Jeff Baxter today announced his campaign to continue representing the state’s 4th Legislative District.
“The Legislature has an enormous task ahead, and lawmakers will need to make tough decisions about how to navigate the state toward a positive and prosperous future,” said Senator Baxter. “I’m committed to continuing to represent Spokane County residents during this challenging time,” he said.
Baxter was appointed to fill the seat vacated by Senator Bob McCaslin by a unanimous decision of Spokane County commissioners earlier this year.
“I was humbled by Spokane County’s vote of confidence in appointing me to fill the seat long held by Senator Bob McCaslin, and I believe continuing my service to the 4th Legislative District is in the best interests of my constituents,” said Baxter.
Since his appointment in February, Senator Baxter has worked to pass legislation to help small businesses, restore accountability in and cut government spending, and improve education.
As a small business owner for the past 24 years, Senator Baxter understands the importance of spending tax dollars wisely and making Washington a better place to live and do business. His first hand experience and knowledge of the challenges of running a small business in this state provide a unique insight into how burdensome and unnecessary regulations and taxes adversely impact a small businesses’ bottom line.
“I consider myself to be the much-needed ‘voice’ of small business owners and working families, not just in the Spokane Valley, but across the state,” said Senator Baxter. “My commitment in the Senate is to help small business owners so they can create jobs for Washington workers, which is the only way to get our state’s economy back on track.”
Baxter and his wife, Diane, have been married 24 years and have two sons. They have lived in the Spokane Valley for 13 years. He is a member of the Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce and West Valley Booster Club, and is active in his church.
