An update from the Chair...
The 2009 Lincoln Day Dinner and Auction, attended by over 320 exuberant party goers last Saturday was a huge success.
Some of the evening's highlights:
- The attendance was better than expected in this off-election year.
- The venue was more economical than past years, and we will make money on the ticket sales.
- Glover Mansion catering staff did a terrific job--the food was wonderful, and there was lots of it.

- Talk show host Dr. Laurie Roth proved to be a stunning musician as well as a gifted thinker.
- Chuck Skirko, president of the GU Republicans was a jovial M.C. aided and abetted by Councilwoman Nancy McLaughlin.
- There was lively bidding on the silent auction items as well as during the called auction from those ably prodded by District Leader-turned-auctioneer Leonard Christian assisted by Sheryl McGrath.
- Speaker Tom DeWeese gave guests a rapid fire analysis of the lethal land grab effort that has been launched on Americans, including here in Spokane. (This address is available on CD from ACN Radio, and it will be rebroadcast in the near future, to be announced.)
We will be debriefing with committee workers and working on a budget report this week--we expect a profit that will not only pay the rent for the office at Tapio Center that Glen Cloniger gracefully provides for us at a discount, but also we should have enough booty to award funding to GOP candidates running for office this year.
On behalf of the SCRCC board, I thank all who worked so hard putting Lincoln Day together this year, as well as those gracious guests who came down to Lincoln Center to support and encourage us and each other.
We thank all those elected GOP officials who showed up to visit with and encourage rank and file Republicans and support our board's effort:
- Sen. Bob McCaslin
- Rep. Larry Crouse
- Rep. Matt Shea
- Rep. Shelly Short
- Rep. Kevin Parker

- Commissioner Todd Mielke
- Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich
- Assessor Ralph Baker
- Spokane City Council members Al French and Nancy McLaughlin
- Spokane Valley Councilwoman Diane Wilhite
- Mayor of Airway Heights, Matthew Pederson
- Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers, who greeted us via a 9 minute video
This kind of giving, supportive, upbeat attitude can't help but unite us behind a renewed, rejuvenated Republican Party that will take back turf in 2010. Onward!! |
